I am a first-generation Mexican American born in Texas who has spent most of her life between Austin and the Washington, D.C. area.

My soccer journey began with watching La Liga & Liga MX with my dad when I was a kid. I have been a passionate supporter of MLS since its inception. I have been an Austin FC season ticket holder since the first season. I joined LV in June 2021 but did not become actively involved with the organization until 2023 when I helped paint the first tifo of the season. I have been on the Membership Committee since 2024.

I am the founder of the Austin chapter of November Project, a global volunteer run fitness community that aims to build human connection by providing free & fun modifiable outdoor workouts a few times a week. I led the community for almost 8 years.

In my professional life, I work in construction of federally funded multi-family affordable housing helping to ensure laborers onsite are paid & treated properly.

When I am not working or watching soccer, I love going on adventures with my dog Riggins, hanging out with friends and traveling to other countries (mostly to watch more soccer!)

¡Hola a todos! I’m a proud native of the borderlands, being born and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México, and went to school in Brownsville, Texas. During World Cup 1994, my Tía Mari introduced me to the passionate and colorful world of fútbol and all things Selección Mexicana, and I have not looked back ever since.

I first moved to Austin when I started undergrad years ago, but the city became of deeper significance to me when Austin FC and Los Verdes came onto the scene in 2020. LV became a safe place where I could fully be myself, and being able to secure season tickets since 2021 is a little miracle I will always be grateful for! I didn’t know it at the time, but I can confidently say LV and those tickets changed my life for the better. I will never forget the first time I walked into Q2 for the in-stadium watch party in 2021. Being there was a dream come true and our vibrant community’s warmth took over me.

I want others to feel just as welcome in LV. My hope and goal will always be to make our community a positive and inclusive space whether it be through singing in the stands supporting our boys, or advocating for the things we believe in. I’m grateful for the community we have created, and feel honored to have the opportunity to care for it as we continue supporting our Verde & Black!

    Secretary
    she/her

Born in Portland Oregon, Elyse spent her childhood up and down the west coast, instilling within her a love of art, chill vibes, coffee and the ocean.
This led to many fun adventures including graduating from the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts in California as a theater technician/scenic artist to working with theater companies across the US to canvassing/organizing on behalf of progressive causes. After moving to Austin 15 years ago and being inspired by its unique vibrancy, Elyse kept the adventures rolling by co-founding her own art studio. Art Amore is now over 12 years old and Elyse strives to keep it a beautiful and nurturing space where people are encouraged to learn not just technique, but creativity, thoughtfulness, and, most importantly, fun.
Elyse’s love of soccer may be her newest adventure, having kicked off with the beginning of Austin FC, watching the first game ever and thinking, that goalie looks like he might be really, really good at this. But now 4 seasons, many tifos and an untold number of scarves in, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
(Was it weird for Elyse to write this in the third person? Yes… Yes it was).

I’m a native Austinite who grew up without any sports fandom whatsoever.  I discovered soccer when I studied abroad in Spain and watched fútbol with my host family, and found it to be so much more fun and engaging than the sports more popular in the U.S.  Back home, my soccer fandom stayed mostly dormant outside the World Cup until Austin FC came to town.  The first year I attended only a few games in person, watching most of them on TV.   As I went to more games in year two, I fell in love with the energy of the supporters section, and am now a season ticket holder there.  In Los Verdes I’m a tifo lead and cut crew member, and on game days you can find me at the bottom of 104.

Outside of soccer, I work at an environmental nonprofit.  I love reading, gardening, bouldering, ride my e-bike around town, and hanging out with my two cats.

    she/her

I’m originally from Central Florida and, after some time in California, have been lucky to call Central Texas home for the past eight years. I live in Bastrop with my partner; we have three adult kids and two very loved rescue dogs.

My way into Austin FC - and into Los Verdes - started in 2021 with a single game and a promise to my oldest daughter that we’d come back the following season. After attending the 2022 home opener (and scoring five goals), we quickly found our way to Los Verdes. What started as a fun night out turned into something much bigger: a shared passion, a real sense of community, and a place that felt like home.

Los Verdes means a lot to me because it’s about more than soccer. It’s about showing up for each other, caring for the people next to you, and building something together. I care deeply about creating spaces where people feel safe, respected, and welcome exactly as they are.

Outside of Los Verdes, I work in people and operations leadership. It’s an honor to serve and help care for a community that’s meant so much to me and my family.

Growing up in the Bay Area in California and in Central Texas, I never had a hometown soccer team, so when Austin FC came along I leaped at the chance to live the life of a 12-year-old fútbol fan I never got to when I was actually 12. And when I learned about Los Verdes and saw how they help create our fantastic game day atmosphere and the great work they do in our city, I knew I had to join in with them, too!

In my day jobs, I’ve always worked in communications: writing, editing, content strategy, media relations and production, and have always been involved in union organizing and labor activism when I can. I believe the best organizations are driven by their members, and that leaders should follow them.

The relationship among Austin FC, its players, its supporters, and our city provides an opportunity for all of us to build a more positive, welcoming, meaningful community in Austin, one that can benefit the entire city. And I’m happy and proud to be part of that project with Los Verdes, and I hope you’ll join us!

When not helping out with LV projects or obsessing over Austin FC, you can find me enjoying Austin’s natural beauty, reading or writing, learning about history, bicycling, traveling, and enjoying the company of friends and family. Hope to see you soon in the South End!

    Hello all!

I’m a born and bred Hoosier from Indiana who moved around a bit before making my way to Austin in 2009. Education-wise, I’ve earned degrees in Telecommunications, Audio Technology, and graphic design. Over the years, I’ve worked a variety of jobs including customer service rep for a greeting card company in Indiana; a market researcher for the film industry in California; a sound engineer for Club Med in Mexico; and an inside sales rep for a prosthetics company here in Austin.

I attended my first Austin FC match in 2021 and even though I was fairly new to soccer at that point, I was hooked. I started learning more about the team and the culture that surrounded it here, and that’s when Los Verdes really came to the forefront for me. I respected the LV vibe, the ties to the community, and the support it gives to the team. Once I joined LV, I got to see firsthand how special the LV community itself is. It offers a beautiful foundation for soccer fans of all kinds to join together, feel safe, and belong.

I love the community that LV has created, and I’m proud to have the opportunity to protect, sustain, and grow it as a member of the SXI.

  • Logan Retzer

    he/him

Growing up as a chubby punk kid in the frigid tundra of North Dakota, sports were never my passion. That is, until the 2010 World Cup, when I immediately fell in love with the game.  Shortly after, I moved down to Austin and I started following MLS.  I never felt I had a real team to root for (sorry MNUFC, it was just a fling), but when Austin FC was announced, it finally felt right, and I immediately jumped at the opportunity to pick up season tickets.

I initially joined Los Verdes in 2020 because I thought they had a cool scarf, but the sense of community and passion that I felt within this group is what kept me a member. As I continued my LV journey, I became a Tifo Lead, a Merch Lead, and helped champion our Merit Badge program.  Continuing to engage with these communities, funneling all of our members' passions into worthwhile initiatives, and helping us grow as an organization are why I joined the board, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together in the future.

Outside of LV leadership, you’ll see me sewing patches onto my "cut" at one of LV's frequent Stitch & B*tch sessions, enjoying a fabulous tiki drink or craft beer around town, or desperately trying to convince people to come play games with me at LV Board Game night.

I’ve lived my entire adult life in Austin—and to be honest, I was starting to feel pretty jaded about it before the pandemic hit. My path to falling back in love with this city started when I saw a couple dozen people singing on a dirt hill outside Austin FC’s first-ever friendlies in 2021. I joined Los Verdes that day.

Fast forward a few years, and I’ve never felt more planted here. I’ve made friendships that’ve changed the course of my life. I’ve traveled the country multiple times over. I’ve seen confoundingly terrible matches, stunning comeback victories, and some incredible drag shows.

Through the matchday experience, collective action on issues relevant to our community, the chaos of Slack, and a million moments in between, LV has shown me Austin at its best: energetic, creative people coming together around a love of soccer, in conversation with the long histories of Latin American and other global supporter’s group cultures, to provide thousands of Austin FC fans with a common purpose and a feeling of belonging. After years of documenting the fan experience as part of the Photo-Video and MarCom teams, I’ll be spending my term on the Starting XI with a heavy focus on improving the essential background details that make this organization run more efficiently and with less burnout as it matures into its fifth year.
